Insurance Department

Consumer Services Bureau: Oversight of Case Processing Activities (Follow-Up Review)

The Insurance Department investigates complaints and may take disciplinary action against insurers, agents, brokers and adjusters. In our prior report 98-S-25, we examined the Department’s management of such cases and found that they were not always resolved in a timely manner. We also determined that unpaid fines were not closely monitored. We recommended improvements in the Department’s monitoring practices and internal controls, and in our follow-up review, we found that some of our recommendations had been implemented.
