Measuring Faculty Teaching Workload: Data Reliability (Follow-Up Review)

The City University of New York (CUNY) includes 11 senior colleges, 6 community colleges, a graduate school and a law school. CUNY measures the teaching workload of its faculty in terms of the number of credit hours taught by each faculty member. In our prior audit report 99-S-6, we examined the workload data recorded by CUNY and found that some of the data relating to the senior colleges was inaccurate, incomplete and inconsistent. We recommend certain improvements in the recording and monitoring of this data. In our follow-up review, we found that all the recommendations contained in our prior report had been implemented.
