Overseeing Access to Food Stamp Benefits

The Food Stamp Program in New York State is overseen by the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) and is directly administered by 58 local social services districts. We evaluated the adequacy of the access provided to food stamp benefits outside New York City. We found that a mechanism for ensuring such access has been established by OTDA , and if this mechanism is implemented as intended, access to the benefits should be enhanced.
