Opportunities To Increase Efficiency and Reduce Costs of Motor Vehicle Fleet Maintenance Program (Follow-Up Review)

In our prior audit report 96-N-6, we found that a number of improvements could be made in the vehicle maintenance practices of the New York City Police Department. For example, vehicles were not always serviced according to schedule, many of the motor vehicle spare parts on hand were obsolete, and tires were not always replaced in the most efficient manner available. In our follow-up review, we found that actions have been taken to implement most of the recommendations contained in our prior report.
