Office of Real Property Services

Local Assistance Incentive Payments (Follow-Up Review)

The Office of Real Property Services works with localities to improve the administration and equity of real property tax assessments. To facilitate these efforts, the Office may make payments to the localities. In our prior audit report 96-S-35, we examined these payments and found that they did not fully comply with laws and regulations. For example, some localities received payments even though they had not submitted to the Office certain required information about the real property in their area. We recommended certain improvements in the Office's procedures for reviewing and approving applications for local assistance incentive payments, and in our follow-up review, we found that these recommendations have been fully implemented.
