Salary Rate Increases for Auto Mechanics, Auto Mechanics (CUNY) and Machinists

Purpose

To explain the agency procedures for reporting rate increases.

Affected Employees

CUNY employees who are in an eligible title of Auto Mechanic, Auto Mechanic (CUNY) or Machinist

Effective Date

The increase is effective 4/29/07 and may be submitted in Pay Period 3C (Institution), paychecks dated 5/24/07

Background

The rate increases are pursuant to the New York City Comptroller’s Consent Determination dated October 2, 2006.

The new rates and other information are contained in  memorandums dated November 3, 2006 and February 27, 2007 from Carmelo Batista, Jr.

Agency Actions

Reporting the Rate Increases

To increase the hourly rate(s), the agency must submit the following requests for employees in Active, Paid Leave or LOA status:

  • For all rate increases, request a Pay Change with the Action/Reason code of Pay Rate Chg/CRT (Pay Rate Change/Change Rate) on the Job Action Request page, using the effective date of the appropriate increase, and submit the new hourly rate.
  • A separate request must be made for each of the subsequent rows that exist on the employee’s Job Data page.

DATE CORRECTION from Bulletin CU-280:

Any Auto Mechanics, Auto Mechanics (CUNY) or Machinists hired before August 1, 2006 will be paid at the new salary rates.

REMINDER:

Auto Mechanics, Auto Mechanics (CUNY) and Machinists hired on or after August 1, 2006 will be paid a suppressed salary rate for three (3) years.

Please refer to the November 3, 2006 memorandum from Carmelo Batista, Jr. for the new and suppressed salary rates.

Revised Rate Chart

A revised rate chart reflecting the new rates and appropriate Earnings Codes is attached.
