Pay Rate Changes for CUNY Skilled Trade Titles

Purpose

To explain agency procedures for processing increases.

Affected Employees

Employees in the following titles: Laborer A, City Laborer A, Laborer B, City Laborer B, Laborer C and Locksmith

Effective Date

Pay period 3C, paychecks dated 5/16/02

Background

The rate increases are effective 4/1/00 and 4/1/01 and are contained in Carmelo Batista, Jr.'s memorandum dated 1/11/2002, salary increases for Laborer and City Laborer and salary increases for Locksmith.

Agency Actions

Agencies must submit the following in payroll period 3C:

  • For employees who were active in an eligible title on 4/1/00, agencies must request a Pay Rt Chg, effective 4/1/00, on the Job Action Request panel using the reason of Change Rate (CRT).
  • For employees who are in an eligible title and have a job data row(s) after 4/1/00 but before 4/1/01, agencies must request a Pay Rt Chg using the reason of Change Rate (CRT) for each row. The effective date must be the same as the existing job data row(s).
  • For employees who were active in an eligible title on 4/1/01, agencies must request a Pay Rt Chg, effective 4/1/01, on the Job Action Request panel using the reason of Change Rate (CRT).
  • For employees who are in an eligible title and have a job data row(s) after 4/1/01, agencies must request a Pay Rt Chg using the reason of Change Rate (CRT) for each row. The effective date must be the same as the existing job row(s).
Time Entry Panel

Agencies are responsible for calculating the retroactive adjustments for all miscellaneous earnings previously reported in the time entry panel. The earn code AJR must be used to report the combined retroactive adjustment for all earnings. The general comments panel should reflect breakdown of all miscellaneous adjustments.

The earn code AJR should be reported as follows:

Earnings Begin Date: First date of earnings
Earnings End Date: Last date of earnings
Earn Code: AJR
Amount: Total amount for combined earnings

OSC Actions

OSC will automatically process the retroactive adjustments for all regular hours previously paid since 4/1/00.

Revised Rate Chart

A new rate chart, reflecting the new rates and appropriate earnings codes, will be faxed to agencies.
