Background

The SUNY Charitable Giving Campaign to be started in May 2005 will give employees the opportunity to express their generosity, philanthropic spirit and support for one or more SUNY campuses. Gifts will be used by the campus of the employee’s choice to support academic program enrichment, student scholarships, faculty career development and new campus academic and technology initiatives.

Legislation passed in 2003 allows for all State, county and municipal employees to make a donation through payroll deduction to any of the 59 SUNY campuses.

Payroll officers will have the ability to process employee contributions through payroll deduction to the SUNY campus of the employee’s choice. Each payroll officer will receive an informational payroll stuffer about the SUNY Charitable Giving Campaign to be distributed to employees with an approved deduction enrollment form, which is available online. State employees will be invited to identify the campus they wish to support, to fill in the campus code and contribution amount, sign and return the form to their agency payroll officer.
