State Agencies Bulletin No. 385

Subject
Queries Conversion Moratorium
Date Issued
April 16, 2003

Purpose

To inform all query users of the freeze on OSC's converting queries.

Affected Employees

All PS Query Users

Effective Date

May 15, 2003

Background

Agencies were previously notified to delete any queries that were duplicates or were unnecessary.

Agencies were also notified to rename queries to comply with the PeopleSoft 8.3 query naming standards.  Currently there are over 200 queries that begin with UG but do not comply with the PeopleSoft 8.3 naming standards. These queries will not be converted unless agency action makes them compliant (refer to Payroll Bulletin 328).

Agencies have been informed that queries that do not run in the current version will be renamed beginning with Z_. Agencies are to correct and rename the query to the PeopleSoft 8.3 query naming standards and OSC will retest (refer to Bulletin 363).

OSC continues to work on testing and converting queries identified as Public and Private (#1 priority). To ensure these queries will be converted, the freeze date was changed.

Agency Actions

Payroll Officers should distribute this Bulletin to all query users in their agency.

Query users need to:

  1. Review their query names to ensure they are in compliance with PeopleSoft 8.3 naming standards.
  2. Review and correct any of their queries that begin with Z_ and rename with PeopleSoft 8.3 naming standards so that OSC can retest.
  3. Any private queries created since the priority list that are critical to payroll processing, agencies must make public with the PeopleSoft 8.3 query naming standard before 5/14/03. This will ensure these queries will be tested and converted.

OSC Actions

Any queries created after 5/14/03 which have the PeopleSoft 8.3 query naming standard will be copied into the new payroll version 8. However, OSC will not test or convert these queries to version 8 format. That will be the responsibility of agency users.

OSC is creating an Upgrading Queries Guide that will be issued to agencies by the end of July.
